Superiority:
Soluble in hot nitrobenzene, slightly soluble in o-chlorophenol and pyridine, insoluble in water, acetone, ethanol, toluene or chloroform. It appears dark orange in concentrated sulfuric acid and produces yellow precipitate after dilution. It appears blue in alkaline insurance Powder solution; it appears green in acidic reducing solution. The dye is easily reduced to a leuco body and is not easily oxidized.
