Product Description:
Methanol, also known as hydroxymethane, is an organic compound and the simplest saturated mono alcohol in structure. Its chemical formula is CH3OH/CH₄O, of which CH₃OH is the structural short form, which can highlight the hydroxyl group of methano. Because it was first found in the dry distillation of wood, it is also known as & ldquo; wood alcohol & rdquo; or & ldquo; wood spirit & rdquo;. The lowest dose of human oral poisoning is about 100mg/kg body weight, oral intake of 0.3 ~ 1g/kg can be fatal. Used in the manufacture of formaldehyde and pesticides, etc., and used as an extractant of organic matter and alcohol denaturant, etc.. Product Properties and Stability:
Colorless clear liquid, its vapour and air can form explosive mixtures, when burned to produce blue flame. Critical temperature 240.0°C; critical pressure 78.5atm, miscible with water, ethanol, ether, benzene, ketones and other organic solvents. Its vapour forms explosive mixture with air, which can cause combustion and explosion when exposed to open fire and high heat. It can react strongly with oxidant. If it meets high heat, the pressure inside the container increases, and there is a danger of cracking and explosion. No light flame when burning. Can accumulate static electricity and ignite its vapour.
Product Application:
1.One of the basic organic raw materials, used in the manufacture of chloromethane, methylamine and dimethyl sulphate and many other organic products. It is also a raw material for pesticides (insecticides, acaricides), medicines (sulfonamides, hapten, etc.), and one of the raw materials for the synthesis of dimethyl terephthalate, methyl methacrylate and methyl acrylate.
2.The main application of methanol is the production of formaldehyde.
3.Another major use of methanol is the production of acetic acid. It can produce vinyl acetate, acetate fibre and acetate, etc. Its demand is closely related to that of paints, adhesives and textiles.
4.Methanol can be used to manufacture methyl formate.
