Iopromide|73334-07-3

Iopromide is a new type of non-ionic low-osmolar contrast agent. Animal experiments have proved that it is suitable for angiography, brain and abdominal CT scan, and urethrography.

Injection of iopromide and other hypotonic or hypertonic contrast agents in unanesthetized or drug-inhibited rats showed that iopromide was as well tolerated as pantothenate and better than methylisodiazoate and iodine. Peptide salts are far superior; and because of their low permeability, they cause less pain than the latter. Therefore, it can be inferred that the application of iopromide in selective peripheral arterial and cerebral angiography has improved the clinical tolerance.
