Product Description:
White crystalline powder, melting point 240°C (decomposition). Insoluble in cold water, alcohol and general organic solvents, slightly soluble in hot water, soluble in solutions of sodium hydroxide, sodium carbonate and ammonia.
Application:
(1) Used as a bleaching and fixing solution for the processing of colour photographic materials, dyeing auxiliaries, fibre treatment auxiliaries, cosmetic additives, blood anticoagulants, detergents, stabilisers, synthetic rubber polymerisation initiators, EDTA is a representative substance for chelating agents.
(2) It can form stable water-soluble complexes with alkaline earth metals, rare earth elements and transition metals. In addition to sodium salts, there are also ammonium salts and iron, magnesium, calcium, copper, manganese, zinc, cobalt, aluminium and other various salts, each of these salts have different uses.
(3) EDTA can also be used to detoxify harmful radioactive metals from the human body in a rapid excretion process. It is also used as a treatment agent for water.
(4) EDTA is an important indicator and can be used to titrate nickel, copper, etc. It should be used together with ammonia to act as an indicator.
