    Product Description:

Careful control of the preparation process for Transparent Iron Oxide pigments results in the formation of pigments with very small primary particle sizes. The particles are acicular with needle lengths of up to 43nm and needle widths up to 9nm. Typical specific surface area is 105-150m2/g.

Colorcom Transparent Iron Oxide pigment range exhibits high levels of transparency and color strength combined with excellent chemical stability, weather fastness, acid-resistance, and alkali-resistance. They are strong absorbers of ultraviolet radiation. As inorganic pigments, they are non-bleeding and non-migratory and are not soluble allowing good effects to be achieved in both water and solvent based systems. Transparent Iron Oxide have good stability to temperature. The red can withstand up to 500℃, and yellow, black and brown up to be 160℃.

    Product Properties:

Easy-to-disperse Transparent iron oxide yellow & red have basic properties of transparent iron oxide pigments and much better dispersibility than transparent iron oxide pigments and especially suitable for plastics, printing inks and various coatings which have high requirements on environmental protection.

    Application:

Especially suitable for plastics, printing inks and various coatings.

    Dispersion Methods:

In order to fully exhibit the high transparency and color strength, the transparent iron oxide pigments must be dispersed completely. The forces of attraction between particles of small size are high and aggregates formed between the particles are difficult to fully disperse. Ideal dispersion depends on the manufacturing process and the dispersing equipment.

The first stage of a dispersion is to choose proper binders and dispersants to wet the pigment surface and make it to be pre-dispersion system by mechanical equipment and then choose proper milling equipment.

For relatively low viscosity systems, a horizontal bead mill containing glass beads or zirconia beads media is preferred, although ball mills may also be used. Where viscous systems are required, for example pastes or concentrates at high pigment loading, then a three roller mill may be required.

After full dispersion, with the needle lengths of the particles less than 5 µm, the excellent properties of transparent iron oxide pigments will be fully exhibited.
