Calcium iodate is an excellent variety of food and feed additives to supplement iodine sources. It is non-hygroscopic and has good chemical stability. It does not show any change when mixed with a variety of trace element additives. It is determined by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) "Generally recognized safety level" food and feed additives. In the pharmaceutical industry, it can be used to prepare mouthwash, iodoform substitutes and trace element additives for nutritional drugs; it can also be used as a deodorant.
